FAQ

What is Tx-Watch?

Tx-watch is a real-time Bitcoin (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) transaction visualizer. With a few extra stats.

What should I look for?

  • $1,000,000+ value tx
  • SLP token tx
  • CashShuffle tx
  • CashFusion tx
  • Block confirmation (white bar)

Why doesn‘t the mempool clear after a block is found?

Each block has limited room for transactions. Bitcoin (BTC) has 1MB of capacity per block, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) has 32MB per block, Litecoin (LTC) 4MB, etc. If the mempool contains more transactions than can fit, then only a subset will be included. Usually the transactions which pay the highest network fees.

Why are there so few / many blocks?

The block-time BTC and BCH is - on average - 10 minutes.

There are often periods where multiple blocks are found within a 10 minute span, and other times where no blocks are found over multiple hours.

This variance is caused by the mining difficulty, total network hash-rate, price of the coin, and luck. All of which over time.

Why is the transaction fee expensive?

When the mempool is full, transactions need to set a higher transaction fee so a miner includes the transaction into a block.

Once a block is full of transaction data, every subsequent transaction has to outbid the earlier transactions for the miners to include it in th next block. This leads to a fee market transactions compete against other transactions, which can lead to expensive transaction fees.
Once the network is no longer congested, the fee goes down, This can take hours, days, weeks, or months.

Why are many BCH transactions under $1?

Due to the sub-cent transaction fees, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) enables the use of micro-payments.

Some of these micro transactions are related to social media apps like memo.cash, noise.cash and read.cash, gaming sites such as blockchain.poker and more.

How are total fees calculated?

The miner fee in satoshis multiplied by the current price.

How accurate are the stats?

All data is best effort to show usage, trends, and general interest. This app relies on free API‘s which may not always be stable. Especially when collecting long-running data. Not intended for scientific purposes.
